Tunisia bid farewell to the Africa Cup of Nations in Sahel El Hadj in the first round after drawing with South Africa on Wednesday in the third and final round of Group E competitions.
Tunisia “Carthage Eagles” failed throughout the minutes of the match to score a goal that would have qualified for the round of 16 of the continental championship, especially with Mali and Namibia drawing in the same round.
This is the first time that Tunisia, the African champions in 2004, have been knocked out of this round in 11 years, specifically in the 2013 edition hosted by South Africa.
Mali topped Group E with five points, a point ahead of South Africa and Namibia, while Tunisia finished in fourth place with two points and bid farewell to the competition in the first round.
