The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, explained that Tunisia seeks to develop a development model based on expanding the base of partnerships and strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
He stressed that this model is based on openness to various regional and international powers, away from the politics of regional and international axes, while benefiting from the experiences of the past decades.
He added that Tunisia is committed to international legitimacy, supports just causes, and adheres to principled positions that are not influenced by immediate and narrow interests.
The minister pointed out that the tripartite meetings between Tunisia, Libya and Algeria aim to strengthen relations and activate joint cooperation through new action plans that enhance development and strategic partnership.
He stressed that these meetings come within the framework of the three leaders’ keenness to consult and coordinate to confront the security challenges and risks associated with the phenomenon of irregular migration and cross-border crime.
The Minister stated that the tripartite consultative mechanism seeks to establish relations with other countries and regional and international groupings on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs, and it remains open to every sincere political will aimed at constructive participation in strengthening joint collective action, away from the politics of axes and interventions. At the conclusion of his speech, the Minister stressed that this consultative mechanism is not a substitute for the Arab Maghreb Union, which is considered a strategic choice and a civilizational gain that Tunisia and the member states are working to achieve and overcome the difficulties that hinder its activation.
