Tunisians representing several organizations supporting Palestine protested on Sunday in front of the US embassy in Tunisia in support of the Gaza Strip.
Protesters stressed that more pressure must be exerted to lift the siege on the Palestinian people, who are deprived of food, aid, and the most basic necessities of life.
Fathi Abaza, a member of the Tunisian Network to Combat Normalization, said that “the American people and living forces are pressuring the global imperialist powers to stop supporting Israel,” noting that “the price will be high, and the blood tax will also be high.”
A member of the National Struggle Movement, Badr al-Samawi, said in a statement quoted by the website “The New Arab”, that “the United States supports Israel and is working to pass malicious decisions, including stopping the aggression temporarily, without allowing the passage of aid, and this does not make sense in fact,” stressing that “the Arab silence remains relative because there is in return mounting resistance.”
“There is a decline in the movement of the Arab street, but on the other hand, there are several protests in several Arab capitals, as well as in several Western cities that support Gaza,” al-Samawi said.
Tunis has already witnessed several popular anger vigils in front of the US embassy, to renew the demand to stop the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian resistance, and to emphasize that “America is a partner in aggression.”
