The Tunisian capital will host on Wednesday an extraordinary meeting aimed at discussing the formation of a new Libyan government, as part of efforts to settle the political crisis and prepare for elections in Libya.
Members of the Libyan House of Representatives and the High Council of State will participate in this meeting, as well as members of the 6+6 Joint Committee, which consists of representatives of both houses.
The session, which is scheduled to last until Thursday, aims to address the formation of a new government that seeks to resolve the dispute between the outgoing government of its president, Abdelhamid Dabaiba, and the government mandated by parliament, headed by Osama Hammad.
The meeting will be attended by prominent Libyan political figures, as well as a delegation representing the United Nations Mission in Libya.
Participants look forward to progress in bringing views closer together and reaching agreement on the formation of a new unity government, with a view to reaching parliamentary and presidential elections as soon as possible.
Tunisia has previously hosted other Libyan meetings, including the meeting of the Legal Committee of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum organized in April 2021.
