Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he considers Russian President Vladimir Putin a good negotiator, and that the conflict in Ukraine started because of the “stupidity” of the current White House president, Joe Biden.
Trump indicated in an interview with businessman and billionaire Elon Musk via the social media platform “X” that Biden did something bad with Russia.
The presidential candidate added that after he left office as US president, Russia began forming large armies there on the border with Ukraine, and Trump said: “I looked at that and thought Putin took this step because he is a good negotiator and wants to negotiate.”
Trump indicated that his Democratic successor Biden, instead of negotiating with Putin, began “saying stupid things,” such as considering that Ukraine could now become a member of NATO.
Trump also expressed his hope to restore understanding with the Russian president if he is re-elected, stressing that this development will have a great positive impact.
Trump said: “I told Vladimir Putin: ‘Don’t do it. It’s not in your interest to do it, Vladimir,’ as that was our last conversation.” He would never have done that, and we had a good understanding. I hope we can get along again. That would be good, not bad.”
Trump added that the leaders competing with the United States, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, are “the best in their field.”
Trump noted that current U.S. President Joe Biden made a big mistake when he refused to negotiate with Russia over Ukraine.
Since February 24, 2022, the Russian Armed Forces have been carrying out a special military operation aimed at disarming Ukraine, eliminating threats to Russia’s security through it, and protecting civilians in the Donbas region who have been persecuted by the Kiev government for eight years.
