The trial of Libya’s former military intelligence chief, Abdullah al-Senussi, was postponed due to “the court’s inability to communicate with a defendant in the case who is outside Libya after his health release.”
Senussi’s lawyer, Ahmed Nahad, announced the postponement, noting that the Tripoli Court of Appeal decided to postpone the session to the end of May, and that there was no change during the session.
The lawyer explained that Sanussi did not attend the hearing because he was not interested in it after having previously given his statements and defense.
The Attorney General, Siddiq al-Sur, had previously indicated that there was no information about Sanussi’s poor health, and that the Public Prosecution had received grievances from Sanussi’s family due to the postponement of his trial, and stressed his commitment to look into the matter and ensure a fair, transparent, and speedy trial.
