Morocco announced an increase in tourism revenues by 10.6% during the first four months of this year, recording a value of $3.2 billion.
The Ministry of Tourism explained, in a statement, that these indicators “reflect the increasingly dynamic performance of Moroccan tourism” (which) enhances growth prospects for the end of the year.
The statement quoted Minister Fatima Zahraa Amour as saying, “The recovery in tourism revenues was expected given the number of arrivals, which shows that the country remains a preferred destination, capable of generating important revenues.”
Amour added that her country will continue to enhance its tourism offer, especially by diversifying recreational activities, to achieve the goal of reaching 120 billion dirhams ($12 billion) by 2026.
She explained that tourism is a fundamental pillar of the economy, in parallel with work to further enhance its contribution.
Morocco says that its plan to revitalize the tourism sector expects to achieve 26 million tourists annually by 2030.
Tourism is the second source of foreign exchange in Morocco during 2023, after remittances from expatriates abroad amounting to approximately $11.5 billion, according to data from the Kingdom’s exchange office.
Tourism continues to achieve continuous development, especially after the sector’s revenues broke $10 billion for the first time in 2023, after receiving 14.5 million tourists.
