The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has announced harsh sanctions against Tunisia for not complying with the World Anti-Doping Code.
In an official statement, the organization said that Tunisia will not be able to host regional, continental, or international championships or competitions, and will not allow the Tunisian flag to be raised during international events, the first of which is the Summer Olympics, Paris 2024, and the Paralympic Games, which will be held this year in the French capital as well.
The penalty also includes the administrative aspect, as Tunisian officials are not entitled to serve on the committees or boards of the World Anti-Doping Agency, which also confirmed that the decision is final and implemented immediately, due to Tunisia’s inability to fully implement the legal system of the 2021 edition of the World Anti-Doping Code.
Tunisia had a four-month deadline from November 2023 to adopt a certain number of “amendments to legislative and regulatory texts” to comply with the Tunisian Legal Framework Code.
Tunisia’s National Anti-Doping Organization (ANAD) did not dispute WADA’s allegations of non-compliance.
The Annual inflation rates in Tunisia stabilized at 7.2 percent
