The US State Department on Tuesday approved a deal to sell missiles and missiles to Morocco at an estimated cost of $260 million.

The Pentagon’s Defense and Security Cooperation Agency said in a statement that the US State Department had approved a potential deal to sell 612 Javelin anti-tank missile systems to Morocco worth $260 million.

The transaction also includes the provision of various equipment, spare parts, staff training, logistical support and other materials and services.

“This proposed sale will support U.S. foreign policy and national security by helping to improve the security of a key non-NATO ally and remains an important force for political stability and economic progress in North Africa,” the statement noted.

In another statement, the agency said that the Foreign Ministry approved the sale of 50 Abrams M1A2 tanks and 4 M88A2 Hercules vehicles, in addition to vehicles for building bridges and demining, machine guns, grenade launchers, ammunition and various equipment to the government of Bahrain, worth an estimated $ 2.2 billion.
