US media reported that former US President Donald Trump defeated presidential candidate Nikki Haley, his last Republican rival in the South Carolina primary.
Trump’s victory is a major setback for Haley, who embodies a more moderate wing of the Republican Party, especially since the election took place in the state where she was in office for six years.
Trump had earlier vowed to crush Haley during the South Carolina primary.
“CNN” reported that Trump leads in the South Carolina primary by 66.8%, and according to “Fox”, the former president got 63.5%.
In an interview with “ABC News”, asked if she was still sticking to her pledge to support Trump if he wins the Republican nomination, Haley said, “I don’t think he’s the right person at the right time,” stressing that she doesn’t think he should be president.
“The last thing on my mind is who I’m going to support, the only thing on my mind is how we’re going to win, how we’re going to make sure we right what’s happening in America, reunite this country, let it heal and move forward in a strong way, I don’t think who I’m going to support in the election,” Haley said.
