The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, Abdallah Batelli, called on the Libyan authorities and actors to push forward to support those affected by Cyclone Daniel.

In a joint statement issued with his deputy, Georgette Gagnon, on the occasion of the 6th month anniversary of the floods in the eastern region as a result of the storm, the statement affirmed the commitment of the United Nations to support a national platform aimed at inclusive and sustainable recovery, with a focus on the needs and best interests of those affected.

The statement pointed to the efforts of the United Nations towards the disaster, as it succeeded in cooperating with its partners in the field of humanitarian relief to provide assistance to about 247,000 affected people, by providing shelter, clean water, food, educational, medical, psychological, and social support.
