UN envoy Abdallah Batele discussed with the mayors of Amazigh cities in western Libya their right to participate in the political process, the fair distribution of resources and security challenges.
This came during a visit on Monday by Batili to the city of Jado, during which he met with the mayors of various Amazigh cities in the western Libyan region.
In a post on the X platform, Battelli said he discussed with attendees “their concerns about the continued marginalization, participation in the political and reconciliation process, and the recent security challenges in the region.”
Bateli added that the visit clearly showed “that the region and its inhabitants deserve a fairer share of Libya’s abundant resources, and they are also entitled to fully enjoy their rights and have a voice in the political process.”
Battele stressed “the commitment of the United Nations Mission to Support the Aspirations of All Libyans for Inclusive Participation and Development” and stressed “the need for key leaders to listen to the demands of the people and engage in dialogue to find a political settlement that paves the way for elections.”
