The UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batelli, discussed with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, in Benghazi, the latest developments in the political process in Libya.
Pateli stressed the need for all leaders to participate positively in the dialogue he proposed to reach a political settlement to end the stalemate that is causing suffering to the Libyan people.
He stressed the need for a comprehensive and consensual solution that would end the transition period and provide long-term stability
For his part, Saleh stressed the need to form a unified government to supervise the elections.
The two sides agreed to intensify their consultations with a view to reaching a common understanding with the various key parties.
