The United Arab Emirates welcomed the outcome of the meeting of Libyan political parties at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.

In a statement issued by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE praised the efforts of the League of Arab States in facilitating dialogue and important consensuses reached, stressing the importance of this agreement in achieving the desired political settlement in Libya.

The Ministry expressed its hope that this agreement will be an important step towards enhancing security and stability in Libya, as a complement to the efforts made by the United Nations Mission.

The Arab League hosted a meeting of Libyan political parties, after which the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, announced that the meeting agreed on “the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Libya, rejecting any foreign interference in its affairs, unifying sovereign positions to serve the Libyans, holding a second round urgently to implement what has been reached, and calling on the United Nations Support Mission in Libya and the international community to support this consensus in order to make it a success.”
