The UAE announced on Sunday the dispatch of a shipment of humanitarian aid, the fifth of its kind, to Chad, containing more than 36 tons.

This initiative comes within the Ramadan program of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.

The total amount of aid provided in the Ramadan amounted to approximately 172 tons, including more than 6,000 Ramadan baskets.

Chad hosts hundreds of thousands of Sudanese fleeing violence in their country, where they are currently living in dire humanitarian conditions and aid is dwindling.

An Emirati plane carrying nearly 20 tonnes of humanitarian supplies also landed at um Jaras airport.

It is noteworthy that the distribution of Ramadan baskets is carried out in coordination and cooperation between the UAE humanitarian team and the local authorities in um Jaras, where the number of beneficiaries of this project reached nearly 6,000 families, according to a statement by the foundation.
