Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received on Thursday the Prime Minister of Niger, Ali Mohamed Lamine Zein, where an official reception ceremony was held at the presidential complex in Ankara, which was also attended by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Defense Minister Yasar Guler.

Following the reception ceremony, President Erdoğan met with the Nigerien Prime Minister at a working banquet during which they discussed the political and economic relations between the two countries, as well as regional and international challenges and the fight against terrorism.

A statement issued by the Turkish Presidency’s Communication Department confirmed that President Erdogan expressed Turkey’s support for Niger’s steps towards strengthening its political, military, and economic independence.

He stressed Turkey’s continued support for Niger and standing against foreign military interventions targeting the Nigerien people.

In a related context, the Turkish presidential communication department announced on Wednesday that the Nigerien prime minister is on a three-day working visit, addressing many issues of common interest between the two countries.
