Tunisian President Kais Saied has appointed three new ministers, including an economy minister, amid stalled negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for new financing to ease the financial crisis.
Feryal Ouerghi, an expert on financial crises, was appointed minister of economy and planning, replacing Samir Saied, who was sacked by the Tunisian president on October 18th, without giving the reasons for the decision.
Fatima Thabet Haram Chiboub was appointed Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy and Lotfi Diab as Minister of Employment and Vocational Training. Samir Abdelhafid, Secretary of State to the Minister of Economy and Planning in charge of SMEs, and Wael Chouchane, Secretary of State to the Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy in charge of the energy transition, were also named.
