The Sixth Ward Chamber of the Court of First Instance in Tunisia sentenced Zaki Rahmouni, a former member of the Election Commission, to 16 months in prison in two cases filed against him by the Tunisian Election Commission.
In the first case, which was filed on August 19, 2022, Rahmouni was accused of insulting others and attributing untrue matters based on statements he made on a private radio station, and he was sentenced to eight months in prison.
The second case was filed on December 2, 2022, and included alongside him Sami Bin Salama and another person named Al-Dali Al-Barhoumi, due to blog posts that criticized the work of the Commission.
