Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar confirmed that the recent tensions that affected traffic through the Ras Jedir border crossing with Libya exceed the capacity of the Tunisian authorities, stressing tripartite cooperation with Algeria and Libya.
Ammar discussed the details of the first consultative meeting that brought together the presidents of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and Kais Saied of Tunisia, and the head of the Presidential Council of Libya, Mohamed Menfi.
He explained that the tripartite meetings between the three countries aim to strengthen relations and activate joint cooperation through new action plans that support development and strategic partnership, without being a substitute for the Arab Maghreb Union.
The Tunisian minister stressed that the security of Libya and Tunisia is closely linked, and that any positive development in Libya reflects positively on Tunisia and vice versa.
He stressed Tunisia’s support for the initiatives aimed at resolving the Libyan crisis, noting that his country is working to strengthen bilateral relations and supports the Libyan-Libyan dialogue to reach a settlement that achieves security and stability in Libya while preserving its unity and sovereignty, away from foreign interference.
He also expressed Tunisia’s confidence in the Libyans’ ability to overcome the current circumstances and organize elections successfully, stressing his country’s full readiness to support efforts to achieve appropriate solutions to the Libyan crisis.
