The Central Agency for Mobilization and Statistics announced that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Arab countries amounted to $ 26 billion during 2023 compared to $ 29.5 billion during 2022.
In a statement, the agency stated that the value of Egyptian exports to Arab countries amounted to $ 13.6 billion during 2023 compared to $ 12.5 billion during 2022.
He added that Saudi Arabia came at the top of the list of the highest Arab countries importing from Egypt during 2023, with the value of Egypt’s exports amounting to $ 2.7 billion, followed by the UAE with $ 2.2 billion, Libya with about $ 1.8 billion, Sudan with about $ 984.4 million, and Algeria with $ 850.3 million.
On the most important commodity groups exported to Arab countries during 2023, the agency indicated that “vegetables and fruits” were exported with a value of $ 1.3 billion, and “machinery and electrical appliances” were exported with a value of $ 1.1 billion. He added that Egypt’s exports of “pearls, precious stones and jewelry” to the Arab countries amounted to one billion dollars, while exports of “fuel, mineral oils and distillation products” amounted to 753 million dollars.
The agency pointed out that Egypt’s exports of “plastics and manufactures” amounted to $ 712 million.
The agency pointed out that the value of Egyptian imports from Arab countries amounted to $ 12.4 billion during 2023 compared to $ 17 billion during 2022.
He added that Saudi Arabia topped the list of the highest Arab countries exporting to Egypt during 2023, with the value of Egypt’s imports amounting to $ 5.2 billion, followed by Kuwait $ 2.7 billion, the UAE $ 2.1 billion, the Sultanate of Oman with about $ 717.4 million, and Bahrain with about $ 399.5 million.
With regard to the most important groups of goods imported from Arab countries during 2023, the report indicated that Egypt imported “fuel, mineral oils and distillation products” worth $ 6 billion, while imports of “plastics and their manufactures” amounted to $ 2 billion.
The data of the agency revealed that the value of remittances of Egyptians working in Arab countries recorded $ 14.3 billion during the fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $ 21.5 billion during the year 2021/2022.
Saudi Arabia ranked first in the list of the highest Arab countries in the value of remittances of Egyptians during the fiscal year 2023/2022, with the value of remittances of its employees amounting to $ 8.3 billion, followed by the UAE with a value of $ 2.1 billion, Kuwait with a value of $ 2 billion, Qatar with a value of $ 940.6 million, and Jordan with about $ 415.3 million.
He added that the number of Egyptians in Arab countries, according to the mission’s estimates, reached 7.1 million Egyptians until the end of 2022.
