The Minister of Economy and Trade in the Libyan Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Huwaij, participated in the thirteenth Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization, which was launched in the UAE in the presence of trade ministers and senior officials from more than 164 countries.
The conference will last for several days and enjoys wide participation and will discuss the regulations and laws governing the global trade sector.
The initiatives address issues of facilitating trade movement among member states, with the aim of reducing risks and ensuring universal access to the global trading system.
The media office of the Ministry of Economy stressed the importance of Libya’s participation as an observer member of the organization, as it seeks to follow up on multilateral cooperation mechanisms.
This comes in the context of Libya’s efforts to implement economic reform programs and adopt an economic and trade diversification strategy, with the aim of increasing the contribution of non-oil sectors to GDP.
On the sidelines of the conference, Al-Huwaij met with his Chinese counterpart to discuss ways of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, highlighting the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in this context.
