Sudanese military sources told Al-Arabiya that Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and army commanders have drawn up a plan to retake the state of Al Jazeera.

The sources said that the Sudanese army was scheduled to start implementing the plan 48 hours after the entry of the Rapid Support Forces to Wad Madani, the capital of Gezira state, but according to the sources, they were delayed without mentioning the reasons and the forces that moved from the states of Sennar and Gedaref are still on the borders of the state.

According to military sources who attended the address of the commander-in-chief of the army with the officers of the Red Sea State, Burhan described the commander of the first division in Wad Madani as a coward, announcing that he would be brought to an urgent trial.

An investigation committee formed listened to the testimonies of Major General Ahmed al-Tayeb, commander of the division, and submitted its report to the army commander, and the investigation also included other parties outside the state that confirmed that they did not issue any orders or instructions to the man to withdraw.

The fall of Gezira province and its capital, Wad Madani, came as a big surprise among civilians, military and political circles.

Gezira state as a whole is the main supply artery for the army in the capital, both with food and strategic goods such as wheat and corn.
