The Sudanese army regained control of the neighborhoods surrounding the “22nd Infantry Division” in the city of Babanusa after intense battles, during which the Rapid Support Forces were forced to withdraw to rear lines.
According to military sources, the neighborhoods witnessing the clashes were largely empty of civilians, and the Rapid Support Forces continued their attacks on the military garrison in Babanusa for more than 65 days, leading to civilian displacement towards safer areas.
Sudanese Army Commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan affirmed that the army is preparing to celebrate an imminent victory, emphasizing the armed forces’ capability to end the war soon.
Meanwhile, the International Organization for Migration announced the arrival of relief supplies to the Darfur region in western Sudan for the first time in months via the border with Chad, expressing deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in the country if aid does not continue to arrive regularly.
Violent clashes continue in various parts of Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces since April 15 last year, with both sides attempting to control vital locations, including the Republican Palace, the General Command headquarters, and several military and civilian airports.
