The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Friday denied the RSF’s recent announcement that soldiers from the Sixth Infantry Division had joined the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Sudan’s military spokesman, Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah, described the announcement as “an unprecedented lie and misinformation”.

“Our forces in this division are all present and cohesive and at their best, and God willing, this militia will not be able to approach this division,” the brigadier general said.

He stressed that the Sudanese Armed Forces control all parts of Sudan except for some areas in Darfur, and that military operations in the capital and abroad are proceeding according to official plans.

The RSF has posted videos on the X platform of a number of individuals wearing Sudanese military uniforms announcing their affiliation.

Violent battles have continued in the capital, Khartoum, and its suburbs, between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces since mid-April, as a result of political and security differences, which resulted in the displacement of more than five million people inside and outside the country, and caused the death of more than 5,000 civilians, and these events have necessitated the intervention of local and international humanitarian organizations to help the displaced and affected.
