Sudan’s army chief and head of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin after winning a new presidential term.
“The Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, sent on Monday a cable of congratulations to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, on the occasion of his victory in the presidential elections,” a statement issued by the Sudanese Sovereign Council said.
In his cable, Al-Burhan said: “It gives me great pleasure to extend on my behalf, and on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Sudan, my warmest congratulations to Your Excellency on your election as President of the friendly Russian Federation.”
Al-Burhan affirmed his confidence in Putin’s leadership to continue Russia’s march and its leading regional role in the region and explained that Sudan looks forward to working with the Republic of Russia to develop bilateral relations in various fields.
Al-Burhan expressed his hope that the new presidential term of President Putin will witness more successes and achievements and follow up the progress and prosperity of the Russian people.
Russian President Vladimir Putin won a landslide victory in the Russian presidential election, winning about 76 million votes, representing 87.29%, after 99.76% of the votes were counted, AFP reported.
