The United Nations announced that the parties to the Sudanese conflict have agreed to hold a meeting, most likely in Switzerland, to discuss the issue of humanitarian access.

The UN humanitarian coordinator, Martin Griffiths, told reporters that over the past two weeks, he had made contact with military commanders Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, asking them to fulfill their commitment on aid delivery.

Griffiths said they had been invited to a U.N.-sponsored meeting between representatives of Sudan’s warring parties to discuss humanitarian aid delivery to civilians, nearly half of whom are in need of assistance.

Griffiths said both sides had agreed, adding that both sides had proposed to come to Switzerland.
