The official spokesman of the Sudan Liberation Army (SLA), Sadiq Ali al-Nur, announced that the movement is striving with its regional and international partners to stop the ongoing war in the country.

This came in a statement issued by the movement on Sunday, where Al-Nour confirmed that the movement will organize a forum from February 23 to 25 in Germany, with the participation of its offices in Europe, America, Canada, and Australia.

The statement pointed out that the forum, which will be sponsored by the head of the movement and the governor of the Darfur region, Minni Arko Minawi, will bear the slogan “Towards a broad tomorrow.”

This comes in light of the ongoing war in Sudan, the deterioration of the humanitarian and security situation and the destruction of infrastructure.

The statement stressed that the forum would discuss ways to build sustainable peace and achieve civil democratic transition, including building constitutional institutions to ensure the peaceful transfer of power.

Heavy fighting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the capital Khartoum broke out on April 15 last year and quickly spread to the Darfur region.

The RSF controls four states in the Darfur region, while the Sudanese army retains control of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.
