Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir announced the receipt of the latest dry bulk ships “Wadi Al-Arish”, which has a load of 82 thousand tons from the Chinese “Hantong” Industry House, and the second to be delivered in less than 7 months.

The minister stressed that “Wadi El-Arish” comes within the framework of implementing the directives of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to make Egypt a global center for trade and logistics, and in light of the Ministry of Transport’s implementation of a comprehensive plan to develop the maritime transport sector and take all measures and mechanisms to restore the strength of the Egyptian commercial fleet.

The minister said that the National Shipping Company, one of the companies of the Egyptian Ministry of Transport, received the “Wadi El-Arish” from the Chinese “Hantong”, one of the largest global industry houses specialized in building dry bulk ships, and the new ship thus joins the company’s national commercial fleet officially during January 2024, bringing the company’s commercial fleet to 14 ships.

The minister pointed out that “Wadi Al-Arish” is the jewel of the national commercial fleet because of its navigational equipment and devices with the latest technologies and international models, as well as for its compatibility with current and future environmental requirements, with a length of 229 meters, a width of 32.26 meters and a draft of 14.5 meters.

The Egyptian Minister of Transport stressed that “today is an important day for maritime transport, which is one of the most important sectors of the Ministry of Transport,” pointing out that the ship “Wadi Al-Arish” is the second ship in less than 7 months, after the ship “Valley of the Kings”, which President Sisi raised the Egyptian flag on during the presidential opening of the “Tahya Misr” multi-purpose station in Alexandria Port in mid-June 2023.
