The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation announced the suspension of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Al-Nasr team, for two matches after he was expelled in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup.
The decision came after Ronaldo was sent off in the 86th minute of the match against Al Hilal, which was held in Abu Dhabi, and the red card came as a result of Ronaldo’s assault on Ali Albulayhi, Al Hilal defender.
Al-Nasr Club defended the behavior of its star, considering that what happened did not reach the level of “disgraceful behavior”, but the committee insisted on the punishment, and Ronaldo will miss the two Al-Nasr matches against Al-Faisaly and Al-Shabab in the Saudi league.
The sanction comes at a very sensitive time for Al Nasr, which is seeking to strengthen its position in the league, and questions revolve around the potential impact on the team’s performance and morale in the coming period.
