The Russian prosecutor’s office announced the arrival of Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov in Algeria on a working visit, according to what he posted on his official Telegram page.

As part of the visit, judicial officials of the two countries held talks and exchanges, with the Algerian Ministry of Justice and the Russian Public Prosecutor’s Office signing the “Executive Program for Cooperation in the Field of Justice”, according to Algerian media reports.

A statement issued by the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed that this visit is not the first of its kind, as the Russian Prosecutor General had previously visited Algeria in November 2023, during which meetings were held with senior officials in the Algerian judiciary, including Minister of Justice Abdelrachid Tabi, First President of the Algerian Supreme Court Tahar Mamouni, and Prosecutor General of the Algerian Supreme Court Majid Abdel Rahim, and aspects of joint work between the two departments were discussed.

“As you know, a tragic event occurred in Moscow in March, when a barbaric terrorist attack was carried out, killing and injuring hundreds of civilians,” said the Russian prosecutor general, adding that for Algeria terrorism is no less urgent and that the actions of extremists who do not recognize borders are always characterized by unjustified cruelty.

“I think you agree with me that preventing such crimes requires concerted efforts, and it is necessary to put a barrier to the spread of this destructive and dangerous ideology, especially among young people,” the Russian prosecutor said.

At the end of the meeting, the Russian Prosecutor General renewed his invitation to the Algerian Minister of Justice to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, expressing his hope that Algeria’s participation in this event will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in several fields.
