The Russian House in Cairo organized a huge celebration to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the construction of the High Dam on the Nile River, in an embodiment of the close partnership between Egypt and Russia.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of various spectrums of Egyptian society, including representatives of parties, intellectuals, writers, and journalists, as well as personalities who participated in the construction of the High Dam and their families, in addition to representatives of the Russian side in Egypt.

In his speech during the ceremony, Murad Gatin, director of Russian cultural centers in Egypt, stressed that “the High Dam represents a symbol of Egyptian-Russian friendship.”

He pointed out that the two countries, which celebrated the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, have achieved many achievements, including the construction of the High Dam and the nuclear power project at the Dabaa plant.

Sherif Gad, president of the Association of Alumni from Russian and Soviet Universities, praised the role of the builders of the High Dam, noting that their attendance reflects the Egyptian people’s keenness to celebrate their heroes and builders of major projects.

The festive activities included performances by Egyptian and Russian artists, as well as a documentary film reviewing the stages of construction of the High Dam.

The ceremony concluded with the honoring of 25 engineers who participated in the construction of this great national symbol.
