Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will participate in the Sixth Russian-Arab Forum for Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation between Russia and Arab States, held in Marrakech, Morocco.
According to diplomatic sources, Lavrov will hold meetings with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and a number of other officials to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, and cultural fields.
The Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum had previously been postponed due to the Corona pandemic, as the previous forum was held in Moscow in April 2019.
This meeting is expected to be an opportunity to exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest, including security and political challenges in the region.
Speaking about Moroccan-Russian relations, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that these relations are unique and reflect Africa’s openness to Russia.
