The Russian embassy in Libya denounced allegations published by the Italian newspaper “La Repubblica” about the presence of Russian planes at the airport of the Tunisian island of Djerba, adjacent to Libya.

In its statement, the embassy described the Western reports as “lies and falsifications”, stressing that they are “fantasy” without foundation.

The embassy considered the dissemination of such misinformation to be disrespectful to the Italian and international reader.

“Western media are increasingly pursuing a policy of spreading a mixture of half-truths and lies under the guise of independent investigations,” the statement noted.

The embassy stressed that it continues to take all necessary steps to protect Russia’s reputation and present the truth to the public, concluding its statement by saying, “We will see what the days show! The days are between us!”

The newspaper “La Repubblica” published a report that talked about the presence of Russian warplanes at the airport of the Tunisian island of Djerba, which is located 150 kilometers from the Libyan border.
