The Russian Embassy in Libya announced that it will reopen its consular section in Tripoli as of the first of next June.
The embassy’s statement published “ indicated” that the consular section will begin to provide its services at the following address: Tripoli, Al-Fath Street, the “Radisson Blu Al Mahari Hotel”, Tajoura Hall.
The office will be open from Monday to Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to receive Russian and foreign citizens.
Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. will serve Russian citizens only, and the embassy explained that citizenship applications will be accepted exclusively on Fridays.
The deputy director of the Middle East Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ivan Molotkov, expressed his country’s intention to resume its diplomatic activity by reopening the embassy in the capital Tripoli and the consulate general in Benghazi.
It is noteworthy that the Russian embassy in Libya was closed for nearly 9 years, since October 2013 after dozens of demonstrators tried to attack it in Tripoli and burned a car and caused material damage to the building before dispersing them, and the Russian embassy in Libya worked throughout the previous period from Tunisia.
