Russia’s Nova Wind has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mali to build two 150 MW solar power plants with storage at Snankuruba and Pogony.

This came during a meeting between Malian Economy Minister Alosini Sano with a delegation from the Russian company “Nova Wind”, in the presence of Malian Minister of Mines Amadou Keita, Minister of Transport and Financial Infrastructure Dembele Madina Sissoko, and Malian Minister of Industry and Trade Moussa El Hassan Diallo.

According to Sano, Nova Wind has confirmed its readiness to complete the Bogoni power plant with a 12-month implementation period and then the Snankoroba plant, demonstrating the Russian company’s experience and dedication to this important project.

“From the end of this month, we must meet again to discuss the financial situation and sign agreements so that we can produce from this plant within 12 months,” Sano added.

This partnership is part of Mali’s vision to free itself from its dependence on polluting thermal energy sources and ensure its energy independence, and by exploiting the country’s vast solar energy potential, Mali is opening up to a future of sustainable economic development and prosperity for its citizens.
