Libyan Presidential Council MP Moussa al-Koni received on Wednesday Russian Ambassador to Libya Haidar Aganin to discuss the development of Libyan-Russian relations in many fields.

During the meeting, the Russian ambassador stressed his country’s desire to increase the level of economic and academic cooperation, and to pay attention to development projects for their contribution to achieving prosperity and stressed the resumption of the work of the Russian embassy with its full staff in Tripoli due to its stability.

The Russian ambassador pointed to his country’s desire to activate the work of the joint committee, which contributes to the development of Libyan-Russian cooperation relations and invited the deputy to visit Moscow.

The meeting dealt with the latest developments at the local and regional levels, and a number of political and economic files of common interest.

For his part, Al-Koni praised the historical relations between the two countries, and ways to develop them in many fields to serve the interest of Libya and Russia and stressed the work to activate the Libyan-Russian Joint Committee, activate previous agreements, and resume the implementation of stalled projects, especially the railway.

Al-Koni explained that Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, and the BRICS group, is a strategic partner for Libya in all fields due to its keenness on its stability and support for the Libyan economy to achieve sustainable development.
