The New Orleans Police Department has challenges in protecting confiscated marijuana from unauthorized consumption within its facilities.
Louisiana Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick noted that “rodents consume marijuana and exhibit drug-like behaviors.”
Kirkpatrick added that the matter is not limited to the police headquarters only, but affects all areas, and the police in New Orleans have been seeking to establish a new headquarters for years.
The decision to establish a new police headquarters comes after rats and cockroaches settled in the building, which was founded in 1968.
