The President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, discussed with the Special Envoy of the US President Richard Norland, ways to break the political stalemate in Libya.
The meeting, which brought them together on Wednesday at the council’s headquarters in Tripoli, focused on some political, economic and military files, and ways to break the political stalemate and move forward towards elections in Libya, according to the media office of the council president.
Al-Menfi stressed the continuation of work in partnership with the UN mission in Libya to reach a real political settlement based on appealing to the people directly and activating the role of regional and international organizations to contribute to promoting dialogue and consensus.
For his part, the US envoy praised the role of the President of the Council and his tireless attempts to create bridges of communication with actors and stakeholders in the Libyan issue in order to reach the elections, looking forward to reviving the Supreme Finance Committee to play a greater role during the coming period as a tool that ensures the fair distribution of resources with disclosure, transparency and rationalization in spending.
