The U.S. police arrested the president of the Colombian Football Federation, Ramón Jesurún, in Miami following unfortunate incidents at the “Hard Rock” stadium on the evening of last Sunday during the Copa America final match.

The incident required police intervention as fans attempted to storm the stadium, delaying the match for 82 minutes.

Jesurún, 71, physically assaulted a police officer, according to Miami police reports, during escalating tensions between fans and security forces.

This incident coincided with Argentina’s 1-0 victory over Colombia, thanks to a decisive goal from substitute player Lautaro Martinez in extra time.

The Colombian newspaper “El Tiempo” also reported that Jesurún and his family faced problems entering the stadium to attend the awards ceremony, which caused a clash between J Jesurún’s son and a security guard.

Ramon Jesurún, 71, has been president of the Colombian Football Federation since 2015, and is vice president of the Confederation of South American Football (CONMEBOL), which is the governing body of football in South America that organizes the Copa America tournament.
