Niger’s President Abderrahmane Tiani has demanded that France pay in cash the debts of 65 years of systematic looting of his country’s resources.

Tiani stressed the importance of the currency, which is seen as a symbol of sovereignty, recalling the long period during which African resources were plundered.

Tiani added that countries should have left what has now become the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) since 1990.

Tiani also called for lifting the veil on the modern history of African countries, removing all files, dusting them, analyzing, evaluating, and deciding on them, stressing that there is no longer room for doubt that African countries are the monetary cow of France.
