The US Department of Defense announced that Russian authorities informed it of the implementation of a combat training launch of the intercontinental ballistic missile “Yaris”, which works on solid fuel, from the Plesetsk space base.

According to a Pentagon spokesperson to TASS, Russian authorities have notified the United States of the launch through the Center for Nuclear Risk Reduction, with assurance that the situation will continue to be monitored by the United States.

In the same context, the Russian nuclear strategic forces announced the implementation of a successful training launch of the Yaris intercontinental solid-fuel missile.

The Russian Ministry of Defense explained that the aim of this launch is to verify the tactical and technical characteristics of the modern missile system.

The ministry praised the performance of the qualified missile crews who successfully carried out the training mission, stressing that the launch was carried out from a mobile platform.

The announcement comes in the context of escalating tensions between the United States and Russia, as US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby announced President Joe Biden’s intention to hold a direct dialogue with Russia on its alleged design of anti-satellite nuclear weapons, noting that no agreement has yet been reached on actual talks.
