Today, Monday, Turkey’s new ambassador to Libya, Kovin Bekitis, presented a copy of his credentials to the person in charge of managing the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the outgoing “National Unity” government, Al-Taher Al-Baour.
Al-Baour, an official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the new Turkish ambassador, wishing him success in performing his duties, and expressing the Ministry’s readiness to provide him with the necessary support in his diplomatic duties.
During the meeting, Al-Baour stressed the depth of the historical relations between Libya and Turkey, stressing the importance of enhancing joint cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries for their common interest.
In a related context, Al-Taher Al-Baour met yesterday, Sunday, with the US Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Noland, where they discussed international and local efforts to support the political transition process in Libya and stressed the importance of implementing fair elections and successfully ending the transitional stages.
Nuland expressed his support for the UN-led efforts in Libya, which aim to overcome political obstacles and achieve the aspirations of the Libyan people towards stability and democracy.
