The Dutch national team turned the tables on its Turkish counterpart and defeated it 2-1 in the match that took place on Saturday evening, to reserve its place in the semi-finals of the European Football Championship in Germany.
Turkey started the match strongly and took the lead in the 35th minute through a goal from Samit Akaydin ,Although the Turks advanced by a goal in the first half, the Netherlands team succeeded in returning to the match strongly in the second half, and defender Stefan de Vry scored the equalizer in the 70th minute.
In the 76th minute, the second goal for the Netherlands came in an unexpected way, as Turkish player Mert Muldor scored an own goal by mistake, granting qualification to the Dutch Windmills.
With this victory, the Netherlands will face England in the semi-finals next Wednesday at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.
The English team qualified for the semi-finals by defeating Switzerland 5-3 on penalties after the original and extra time ended in a goalless draw.
