National security agents in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh arrested a 37-year-old French citizen of Algerian origin, wanted by French judicial authorities.
A security source told Hespress that the National Security agents carried out the arrest based on information provided by the services of the General Directorate for Surveillance of the Moroccan National Territory.
The source pointed out that the process of reviewing the information of the arrested foreign citizen in the database of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), showed that he is wanted internationally under a red notice, issued at the request of the National Central Office in Paris, in order to carry out a sentence issued against him by the French judiciary.
The same source added that the arrested foreign citizen is suspected of being linked to a criminal network that carried out a robbery in 2018, which affected three paintings of great financial value, one of which belonged to a famous French painter.
The suspect was subjected to “garde à vue” pending referral to the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office, while the National Central Bureau (INTERPOL Rabat), affiliated with the General Directorate of National Security, was tasked with notifying its counterpart in France of the incident pending extradition.
