Members of the Moroccan armed forces rescued 85 illegal migrants on Tuesday who were on a boat lost as a result of extremely bad weather conditions, 211 kilometres southwest of the city of Dakhla.

There were 85 irregular migration candidates from sub-Saharan Africa, including 4 women and 3 minors.

According to a communiqué issued by the General Command of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, the rescued people had set off on their journey on February 22nd, with the aim of reaching the Canary Islands.

After receiving the necessary aid, they were handed over to the Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie for administrative action.
