The Minister of African Affairs, Issa Abdel Majeed, held a meeting with the President of the Council and the President of the General Assembly of Tuareg Elders, Ibrahim Siddiq Abkra.
The meeting, held Wednesday in Benghazi at the ministry’s headquarters, brought together a delegation of Tuareg sheikhs from Libya.
The meeting discussed the problems and obstacles facing the opening of land ports between Libya, Algeria, and Niger, where the attendees discussed ways to facilitate trade between African countries.
Minister Abdelmajid stressed the importance of Libya being the heart of Africa and a link between Africa and Europe, and supporting the idea of establishing a free trade zone that brings together Libya, Algeria, Niger, and Chad.
For his part, the delegation called on the minister to involve the people of the south in Libyan embassies, offices, and missions in African countries, which enhances their representation and role in African issues and enhances communication and cooperation between Libya and the countries of the African continent.
