The spokesman for the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation in Benghazi, Walid Al-Orfi, announced the release of at least 107 migrants, including women and children, who had been detained for up to seven months, in an illegal immigration center.

According to al-Orfi, migrants arriving in Libya from sub-Saharan countries, including many Somalis, were seeking to migrate to Europe.

As part of the ongoing efforts to combat the phenomenon of illegal immigration, the concerned authorities received information about the existence of an irregular migration den in the city of Kufra, which prompted them to carry out a successful raid, which resulted in the rescue of migrants who were suffering from harsh conditions and traces of torture and neglect.

The migrants have been transferred to the Irregular Migration Service to complete the legal procedures followed in such cases.

In addition, local authorities have published videos documenting the destruction of the house where migrants were being held, along with footage showing signs of torture on the bodies of some migrants, and relief efforts to transfer them to care and treatment centers.
