The Libyan Public Prosecutor, Al-Siddiq Al-Sour, discussed with Tunisian Interior Minister Khaled Al-Nouri the judicial procedures related to the extradition of those accused of the attempted assassination of Abdul Majeed Mligta, according to the systems adopted in the two countries.
This came during a meeting held today, Wednesday, in the presence of the Director General of the Border and Foreigners Department in the Tunisian Ministry of Interior, according to a statement by the Libyan Attorney General’s Office on” Facebook”.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed enhancing judicial cooperation in penal matters between the two countries and exchanging views on the mechanism for returning fugitives from judicial prosecution to one of the two countries.
On Tuesday, the Public Prosecutor received a decision from the head of the Libyan Intelligence Service, Hussein Al-Aib, to lift the “procedural restriction” against 13 members of the agency accused of attempting to assassinate the head of the National Safety Authority of the outgoing National Unity Government, Abdul Majeed Mligta.
On July 2, the Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of two members of the intelligence service accused of attempting to assassinate Mligta, and the pursuit of the rest of those involved in the operation, who fled outside the country.
The prosecution explained that it conducted an investigation into the incident of detonating a portable device on board a motor vehicle, inspected the scene of the incident and conducted an analysis of the available information about the incident, which led to reaching the ring of those suspected of carrying out the assassination plan.
