Aguila Saleh, speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, called on members to hold an upcoming session in Benghazi next Monday, with the aim of discussing and approving the 2024 state budget law.

The call follows a meeting on April 20 between Saleh and Osama Hammad, the head of the parliament-mandated government, where they stressed the importance of adopting the budget and the need to meet the basic needs of citizens, including food, medicine, and electricity.

Earlier this month, Hammad urged parliament to quickly adopt the budget to strengthen financial governance, while giving his government the exclusive authority to implement it.

It is noteworthy that the proposed budget, which was referred to Saleh in January, includes total expenditures estimated at 90 billion, 528 million, 94 thousand and 377 Libyan dinars.
