The spokesman for the Libyan House of Representatives, Abdullah Blihaq, revealed that the council voted unanimously during its official session on Tuesday to end the term of the executive authority in Tripoli, which came in the preliminary stage.

Blihaq explained that the council considered Osama Hamad’s government the legitimate government until a unified government is chosen.

The council decided to appoint the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, as the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, in accordance with the constitutional declaration and relevant decisions of the House of Representatives, and the session was suspended until next Monday.

Earlier, Aguila Saleh confirmed that 50 representatives submitted a memorandum to end the term of the government of Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, calling for the formation of a unified authority capable of dismantling centralization and achieving a fair distribution of wealth among the various regions of Libya.

Saleh indicated in his speech during the council session on Tuesday that “the demand of the House of Representatives to unify power and the participation of all comes within the framework of keenness on the unity of the country, stopping the conflict, ending the crisis, and reaching a fair distribution of wealth so that Libyans in the cities, villages, and three regions enjoy equal rights, and the unity of power is important to dismantle the geography of the conflict and end it.”
